Keeping Convict Tang in an Aquarium

Convict Tang, also known as Acanthurus triostegus, is a popular species to keep in a saltwater aquarium. They are native to the Pacific Ocean and can be found in reef environments at depths of up to 130 feet.

These fish need a tank of at least 75 gallons with plenty of hiding spots and live rock for grazing and recreation. They are herbivores and should be fed a diet of algae, seaweed, and other greens to ensure their health and well-being.

While they are generally peaceful, they can be aggressive towards other tangs and fish with a similar body shape. They also require pristine water conditions with a consistent temperature of around 76-80°F and a pH level of 8.1-8.4.
