There once was a Lavender Tang,
Whose beauty would make hearts pang.
With a speckled purple hue,

Keeping Lavender Tangs in an Aquarium

The Lavender Tang (Acanthurus nigrofuscus) is a beautiful fish that is popular among aquarium enthusiasts. These fish are native to the Indo-Pacific region and can grow up to 10 inches in length. Here are some things to keep in mind when keeping Lavender Tangs in an aquarium:

  • Tank size: Lavender Tangs require a minimum tank size of 75 gallons, as they need plenty of swimming space.
  • Water parameters: These fish prefer water with a pH of 8.1-8.4 and a temperature range of 72-78°F.
  • Diet: Lavender Tangs are herbivores and require a diet of algae, seaweed, and other plant-based foods. It's important to provide them with a varied diet to ensure they get all the nutrients they need.
