Whose golden scales shimmered like iris.
With venomous spines,
And flirtatious lines,
He wows both his prey and his missus.

Ecsenius midas or Midas Blenny, as it is commonly known, has a distinctively golden coloration. It is also known for its venomous spines that it uses for defense against predators. The fish is also a flirtatious character and will perform courtship dances to attract a mate.

Keeping Midas Blenny in an Aquarium

The Midas Blenny, also known as Ecsenius midas, is a popular fish species among aquarium owners. These fish are known for their striking bright yellow color and their unique personality.

To keep a Midas Blenny in your aquarium, you will need a tank that is at least 30 gallons in size. This fish species likes to swim around, hide, and interact with its surroundings. Therefore, providing plenty of rock formations, caves, and crevices in your aquarium is essential for the fish to thrive.

Midas Blennies prefer a well-maintained aquarium with a stable water temperature between 72-78°F and a pH level around 8.1-8.4. They also need a good filtration system to keep the water quality high.

One of the coolest things about the Midas Blenny is their energetic and entertaining behavior. These fish have a distinct personality and are known for their curious nature. They will often interact with their owners and other fish in the tank, making them a great addition to any aquarium.

Another interesting characteristic of Midas Blennies is their ability to change color based on their mood. For example, if they are stressed or feeling threatened, they may become darker in color to blend in with their surroundings.

In conclusion, the Midas Blenny is a fun and low-maintenance fish species that can add a burst of color and personality to your aquarium. With the right tank setup and care, they can live for several years and provide entertainment and enjoyment for their owners.
