Keeping Spotcinctus Two Banded Clownfish Aquacultured in an Aquarium

The Spotcinctus Two Banded Clownfish, also known as Amphiprion bicinctus, is a popular and attractive fish species that can be kept in a home aquarium. Here are some important points to consider when keeping this fish:

Tank Size

It is recommended to provide a tank with a minimum size of 30 gallons (113 liters) to accommodate a pair of Spotcinctus Two Banded Clownfish. A larger tank will offer more swimming space and provide better water quality stability.

Water Parameters

The ideal water temperature for this species ranges from 75°F to 82°F (24°C to 28°C). The pH level should be maintained between 8.1 and 8.4, with a specific gravity of 1.020 to 1.025. It is essential to regularly test and monitor the water parameters to ensure a healthy environment for the fish.

Aquarium Setup

Creating a suitable environment for the Spotcinctus Two Banded Clownfish involves providing a well-established reef aquarium with live rock, corals, and anemones. These fish form symbiotic relationships with certain species of anemones, which serve as their homes and provide protection. However, they can also adapt to aquarium life without anemones.

Feeding

Spotcinctus Two Banded Clownfish are omnivorous and will readily accept a variety of foods. Their diet should include high-quality commercial flakes or pellets designed for marine fish, as well as frozen or live foods such as brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, and chopped seafood. It is important to provide a balanced diet to ensure their overall health and vibrant coloration.

Coolest Features

Here are some of the coolest features of the Spotcinctus Two Banded Clownfish:

  • Distinctive Appearance: These clownfish have a vibrant orange body with two vertical white bands, making them visually striking and highly recognizable.
  • Social Behavior: Spotcinctus Two Banded Clownfish are generally peaceful and can be kept in pairs or small groups. They exhibit interesting social interactions and hierarchy within their group.
  • Amphiprion bicinctus is a hardy species, making it suitable for beginner and experienced aquarists alike.
  • Clownfish Hosting: While not all individuals will readily host anemones, some Spotcinctus Two Banded Clownfish will form a symbiotic relationship with certain species of anemones, creating a fascinating natural display in the aquarium.
